B
S J received a call from a local publishing group
to advise them on a problem with their ageing steam
generated boiler plant, which had to operate throughout
the summer months providing the heat source for the
hot water generation with a limited heating requirement,
they were incurring high energy costs as a result.
BSJ
visited on a number of occasions to asses the options
available, and with their experienced Design Engineers,
investigated all the options for a client with a building
particularly difficult for accessibility and for connection
to existing services.
BSJ
provided several value engineering options and after
close discussion and final agreement with the client,
BSJ installed a number of gas fired hot water heaters
within plant rooms at roof level, which connected
to the existing hot, cold and gas pipe work within
the building to provide decentralised hot water generation,
independent from the existing steam generated boilers.
The
installation now provides the client with total flexibility
for generating their hot water requirements, and the
ability to de-commission the ageing, inefficient boiler
plant during the summer months, with the subsequent
saving in the energy during this period.
End
Result - A totally satisfied client, with the works
carried out on time and within budget.
